Usually I write my all blog posts in Finnish but this time I decided to share you some of my English language skills! Well, on Monday we started Service English course which includes these themes: how to negotiate, how to service in English, some cultural differences etc. One very huge and important subject was Cultural Intelligence. Let me tell you more about it:
Cultural Intelligence (well- known also as CQ) is a system consisting of three interactive components: cultural knowledge, cross-cultural skills and cultural metacognition.
Cultural Knowledge - is composed of content (what) and process (how) knowledge of other cultures, such as how and when people express disagreement with each other.
Cross- Cultural Skills - consist of a broad set of skills instrumental for intercultural effectiveness, specifically:
- relational skills
- tolerance of uncertainty
- adaptability
- empathy
- perceptual acuity
Cultural Metacognition - is the knowledge of and control over one´s thinking and learning activities in the specific domain of cultural experiences and strategies.
There are lots of information available in Web, I would like to share you one link if you are interested about this subject.
You can find more information here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/iese/2015/03/24/why-you-need-cultural-intelligence-and-how-to-develop-it/#d324a0917d68
And if you don´t remember this week we are studying like crazy because on the next week starts the second working period (I will do it in LADEC where I will do work in service design project).
